Each year, nine out of ten wildfires across the country are started by people. In 2021, 71% of Arizona’s fires were human-caused. As the temperatures start to rise and vegetation starts to dry out, the state will begin to see an increase in fire activity. Therefore, it is extremely important for residents and visitors to do their part to prevent wildfires.
Starting tomorrow, Thursday, December 9, the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management will begin a multi-day pile burn operation approximately ten miles southwest of Flagstaff and ten miles west of Fort Tuthill.
Starting Monday, December 6, the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management and the Pine-Strawberry Fire District will resume ignitions to a prescribed burn project at Camp LoMia within the community of Pine.
Upcoming and favorable weather conditions provide an ideal window for the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management and the Pine-Strawberry Fire District to begin a multi-day prescribed burn near the communities of Pine-Strawberry.
What's bugging Arizona trees? Bark beetles. And the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management wants to assist private landowners with maintaining healthy forests and reduce those bug infestations through the Bark Beetle Reduction Cost Share program.
